We are thrilled to introduce Teara Winmond, a dynamic leader and dedicated advocate for individuals with disabilities. With a rich background spanning over a decade, Teara brings a unique blend of experience, education, and passion to the table, positioning her as a standout candidate for the Executive Director role at the IMAGE Center of Maryland.
Teara’s journey is marked by a steadfast commitment to enhancing the lives of those with disabilities. Previously serving as the Vice President of Strategy and Quality Enhancement at Opportunity Builders, Inc. (OBI), Teara excelled in leading her team to evaluate and improve the organization’s services. Her role involved navigating complex regulatory environments and spearheading quality enhancement initiatives. From ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations to exploring strategic initiatives to grow the organization, Teara’s work demonstrates her dedication to creating meaningful and impactful programs.
Her extensive career includes pivotal roles such as Program Manager for the Disability Employment Initiative at the Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation, and Director of Provider Relations at the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). These positions have honed her skills in managing provider networks, developing strategic plans, and advocating for disability services on a broader scale. Teara’s experience in both state and nonprofit sectors gives her a comprehensive understanding of the financial and operational challenges faced by organizations in this field.
Teara holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University. Her educational background, combined with certifications in benefits counseling and employment supports, equips her with a robust foundation in both the technical and strategic aspects of her work.
Her leadership philosophy revolves around collaboration, inclusion, integrity, and transparency. Teara believes in empowering every team member by fostering a culture where each person feels valued and integral to the organization’s mission. This approach not only enhances team cohesion but also drives collective success and organizational growth.
