About the Scholarship Program
The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland sponsors generous scholarships through its John T. McCraw Scholarship Program. These scholarships are available for post-high school education – colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions.
John T. McCraw Scholarship Program
Award
- $4,000 each, up to four will be awarded
- Merit-based; based on academic excellence, community service, and leadership
- Financial assistance to attend the annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind in its entirety. The Convention typically occurs over one week in early July, and its venue changes each year.
- Financial assistance to attend the next year’s annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Maryland (typically held in the spring).
Eligibility
- Legally blind
- Resident of Maryland or attending college/postsecondary school in Maryland
- Full- or part-time student in the following Fall and Spring (priority to full-time students)
- Will be 18 years old before July of the year of application.
- Must attend the annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind, referenced above.
- Must attend the annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Maryland, referenced above.
Deadline
- Typically, the end of March.
