BaltimoreLink
Through the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), the Baltimore area enjoys many public transit options.
Services offered
- CityLink: These color-coded, high-frequency routes offer frequent, 24-hour service, form a downtown grid, and radiate out from the city on major streets.
- LocalLink: These operate on neighborhood streets between the CityLinks and form crosstown “rings”.
- Express BusLink: These offer limited-stop service from suburb-to-suburb, and suburb-to-downtown.

Tickets
Tickets are sold in books of 6 for $15 ($2.50 each ticket – discount of $0.50 from cash fare).
- Trips within Baltimore County Boundaries:
- One-way Trip: $3.00 cash or 1 ticket ($2.50)
- Round Trip: $6.00 cash or 2 tickets ($5.00)
- Trips to Baltimore City (Partnership hospitals only):
- One-way Trip: $6.00 cash or 2 tickets ($5.00)
- Round Trip: $12.00 cash or 4 tickets ($10.00)
Shopping Shuttle
- Provides transportation services for registered CountyRide participants to destinations like grocery stores, malls or individual stores.
- Destination may change from month to month to give participants a selection of shopping experiences.
- The Shopping Coordinator organizes the program for each area.
- Participants may use the shuttle at least once per month.
- When participants arrive at their shopping destination, approximately one and a half hours will be allowed for shopping.
- Frozen foods and other perishables should either be picked up last or preserved in a thermal container.
- The Shopping Shuttle driver will discuss return pick-up time and location with participants.
- Fares are the same as for the regular CountyRide program.
MTA Mobility Paratransit Services
Through Mobility (formerly called MobilityLink), the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) provides public transportation alternatives to Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County residents who cannot independently access, board, disembark from, or ride other MTA services (such as MTA’s BaltimoreLink bus system, Light RailLink, and Metro SubwayLink).
Mobility provides:
- Pick up and drop off within ¾ mile of the fixed route (regular public transportation)
- Available during normal fixed route bus operating hours of MTA’s services (excluding Commuter bus routes and MARC train routes)
- Door-to-door service
Applying to use Mobility
- Eligibility: Proof that applicant has an impairment that prevents the individual from independently accessing, boarding, disembarking, or riding other MTA services
- Application process
- Download and complete a Mobility application
- Call 410-764-8181, select Option 6 to request an application
- Return the completed application to the MTA in one of three ways:
- Mail: ATTN: MobilityLink Certification Office, 1st Floor, 4201 Patterson Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215
- Download and complete a Mobility application
Using Mobility: Scheduling transportation
- Reservations required
- Can be made UP TO seven days in advance and AT LEAST one service day in advance of travel
- Make a reservation by calling Mobility at 410-764-8181 or using the free TDD 711 Maryland Relay Service
- Out-of-town visitors: up to 21 days of service per year; application required
- One-way fare is $2.10
- Exact fare for each trip is required
- May purchase a 20-ride ticket book
Call-A-Ride
MobilityLink is not the only paratransit option in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County. Another option, Call-A-Ride consists of two parts: Call-A-Ride Center and Call-A-Ride Service. Call-A-Ride uses selected Taxi Cab and Sedan Companies to provide door-to-door transportation for MobilityLink customers. Please note that some of these companies have a limited service area, and these limitations are set forth on the Taxi Cab and Sedan Companies web page.
Call-A-Ride cost
The Call-A-Ride fare covers up to $40.00 of the cab/sedan meter. If the meter reads more than $40, the rider must pay the amount over $40. For example, if the meter reads $35, the rider owes nothing more than the original fare. If the meter reads $48, the rider must pay $8 ($48-$40) in addition to the original fare (currently, $3).
Call-A-Ride Service Highlights
- Available for any purpose
- Fare is $3 each way (pays for meter up to $40)
- Limited to sixty-two (62) one-way trips per month
- After 62 trips in a month, the customer must pay the full meter reading per trip
Call-A-Ride Center Highlights
- Available ONLY for trips to and from the customer’s dialysis center
- Fare is $2 each way (pays for meter up to $40)
Using Call-A-Ride (Service or Center)
- Contact approved Taxi Cab/Sedan companies directly to schedule the ride
- Tell the dispatcher your MTA Call-A-Ride card number
- Must call at least 40 minutes in advance
- May take up to three people on your ride, but all must get on and off at the same place
- When entering the vehicle, present your MTA Call-A-Ride card and pay your fare
- Get your paper receipt after your ride and keep it for six months (Call-A-Ride requirement)
