Public transportation provides an inexpensive way to travel around our communities. Please find below information about public transportation services in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area: Montgomery County and Prince George’s County.

Montgomery County

Montgomery County’s Ride On

Ride On Routes and Schedules

Almost one hundred routes throughout Montgomery County

Fares

Regular fare: $1.00 using SmarTrip, cash, or token

MetroAccess Customers: Free at all times

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro)

Metro provides many public transportation options in the Washington, DC area.

U-Pass College Student Program

U-Pass is Metro’s college program offers full-time students at participating colleges and universities unlimited rides on Metrorail and Metrobus throughout the semester.

Metro Lift

Offers 50% off Metrobus and Metrorail trips for DC, Maryland, and Virginia customers enrolled in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)

Prince George’s County

Prince George’s County’s TheBus

Fixed route system consists of 26 routes that cover more than 10,000 miles throughout the County

Operates Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (varies by route)
